This morning, we journey to Nikko Lake Chuzenji, a beautiful lake with forested shores. The color of Autumn reaches it peak in mid to late October. Along the surrounding mountains, the view is simply magnificent. From here, we proceed to Nikko Toshogu (World Heritage), home to one of the mustsee Japanese architecture, famous for its lavish ornamental carving. Then proceed to visit Tsuruga Castle (admission to Castle’s Museum not included), one of the best known historic castles in North East. We’ll also visit the Aizu Samurai Residence, a mansion of the chief retainer of Aizu clan. Accommodation: Hotel in Inawashiro
This morning after breakfast we will visit the popular World Glass Museum. Here you will find beautiful more than 25,000 handmade glasswares. Surely there will be one piece that will mesmerize you to take home. Out Next stop is Goshikinuma, a five-color pond that changes color depending on weather conditions. From here, we travel to Godaido Hall to take part in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony at Kantantei (tea house). After that, we move to Sendai to view the amazing 100 meters high and 6th tallest statue of Daikannon (Kwan In). Inside the statue, you can also see 108 Buddhist images. Thereafter we will stop by at Ichibancho Arcade (or AEON) for some shopping. Accommodation: Hotel in Sendai
After a good breakfast, we head to Geibikei Gorge. Surrounded by 50 meters tall soaring cliffs, this 2 kilometers gorge offers beautiful scenery throughout the year. Enjoy a boat ride and let the boat man serenade you with a folk song while you enjoy the amazing scenery. Soon after this, we will visit the world heritage site of Chusonji Temple that feature layers of valuable black-lacquer and gold leaves. Our first stop this morning is the poplular Salad Farm in Hachimantai. Walk around the beautiful rose garden, enjoy the fresh fruits and gelato. Beyond this farm is the magnificent Mt lwate. At more than 2000 meters in height, Mt lwate is the top 100 mountains in Japan. Next, we proceed to Hirosaki Apple Park. This park has over 1300 apple trees with 65 varieties. Apple picking will be available from August to mid November. At Ringo House, there are over 1200 kinds of apple products. After stocking up all the gifts and cakes, we move to Hirosaki Castle*. Built in 1611, this is one of the famous castles in North-East region. In Autumn, the view of the surrounding is simply breath-taking. *Hirosaki Castle is under maintenance for 10 years. After breakfast, we will make a photo stop at Lake Tazawa, the deepest lake in Japan. Later, we will visit Kakunodate Samurai Residence, a historic town dotted with samurai residences and storehouses. This town is also popularly known as the Little Kyoto of Michinoku. Our next stop is Neburinagashikan (Kanto Festival center). See how Kanto Matsuri are carried out during the festival. You may want to try balancing ‘Kanto’ (a long bamboo pole with many lighted lanterns) and take a photo for memory. This evening, relax yourself in one of the onsen (hot spring bath) within the hotel. After a good breakfast, we will proceed to the airport for our flight back to Singapore (via Narita Airport or Haneda Airport).
